With musicians having a lot of free time on their hands, people started gaining interest in starting a tutoring program, he said. Sign up for our Newsletters Keltner started the American League of Tutoring Organizations, or ALTO, in late 2019. But interest in his project sparked nationwide once the COVID-19 outbreak hit the United States. ALTO is an organization dedicated to helping high school students start music tutoring programs, Keltner said. It doesn’t replace in-person rehearsal, but it certainly helps us stay motivated and connect with people through music during these difficult times.
