Continually increasing electricity prices are putting spas and water parks who have to maintain suitable temperatures and lighting at their facilities in a difficult position. Some electricity sellers are trying to terminate fixed-price contracts prematurely or else raise their prices.

Ahead of this fall and winter, continuing high electricity prices have both the City of Tallinn and businesses in town worried. While no quick fixes exist, increasing amounts of electrical equipment are being replaced with more modern solutions, the impacts of which will be apparent within a few years' time.

Various hotels and spas across Estonia have already increased their prices, but will have to save on costs this coming fall as well. Narva-Jõesuu's Noorus SPA, which said Monday it may have to lay off more than 180 employees, is weighing closing down altogether for the winter.

After coronavirus certificates checks were introduced last week, there has been a fall in visitors to entertainment venues, especially at spas and cinemas.
