Alcohol, speed believed to be factors in fatal Northern Michigan rollover crash, police say

KALKASKA COUNTY, MI – Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in a Northern Michigan rollover crash that killed one person and injured two others.
Haley Nicole Stangler, 21, of Kinglsey was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Ingersoll Road west of Creighton Road in Kalkaska County around 8:27 p.m. on Thursday.
According to the Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office, Stangler was in a blue, 2009 Pontiac SUV traveling west on Ingersoll Road. The driver failed to control the vehicle upon reaching a curved portion of the roadway and the vehicle rolled several times, police said.
Police K-9 tracks suspect to stranger s garage, where he set fire to stay warm
A 31-year-old Kalkaska man s escape from police was short-lived Tuesday morning after a police dog tracked him to a stranger s garage, where he had allegedly broke in and set a fire to keep himself warm, police said.
The Kalkaska County Sheriff s Office fielded a 911 call about 4 a.m. Tuesday regarding an alleged threat made by a man.
The man had left by the time police arrived, but he lost control of his vehicle and it went off the roadway.
He fled on foot into a neighborhood.
