People in Karachi can avail 25% discount on one-time payment of Municipal Utility Charges & Taxes until December 31.
The KMC has extended the discounted bill payment date,
Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said Wednesday.
The move aims to facilitate consumers while at the same time
increasing the KMC recoveries, he said.
The discount offer was extended in the light of KMC Council
Resolution 148. It was passed on March 29, 2018.
WWF, KMC collaborate for tree plantation

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation have collaborated to make Karachi green and look after the wellbeing of animals at zoos under the administrative control of the KMC.
Regional Head Sindh and Baluchistan WWF- Pakistan Tahir Rasheed called on Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed on Thursday. Senior Director Coordination Khalid Khan and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The administrator said the WWF could assist the corporation in plantation and looking after the animals at zoos and work together to cope with environmental pollution. A memorandum of understanding would be signed in this regard between the KMC and WWF.
Drive to plant trees along major thoroughfares kicks off

The Parks & Horticulture Department of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) kicked off the municipal body’s campaign to plant trees along five major thoroughfares of the city on Tuesday.
The department said that in the first phase of the drive, trees will be planted along Sharea Faisal, Rashid Minhas Road, University Road, Malir Halt Road and the Korangi Industrial Area’s 8000 Road. Digging work has been started, while planting will begin next week.
During the KMC’s ongoing campaign, 600 saplings have already been planted in Gulshan-e-Jinnah (Polo Ground) and 500 in the Moin Akhtar Park. Over 1,000 saplings were also planted during the Aman Exercise in the West Wharf area.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has started constructing road on either side of the Mehmoodabad nullah in Karachi. The stormwater drain has been cleared of all encroachments and the work to widen it is underway. The KMC Works & Services Department in coordination with the Sindh government and district administration is widening the Mehmoodabad nullah. The KMC will ensure cleaning of the stormwater drain before the monsoon season so that people could not face difficulties during the rains, Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said. Fourteen new fire stations will soon be established in Karachi under public-private partnership, Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said Monday.
Last week, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation received 48
fire tenders and two water bowsers from the centre. The KMC distributed 24 fire
tenders in different industrial zones.
