A teenager accused of plotting a mass casualty event at Mariemont High School was back in a juvenile courtroom on Tuesday.

The student allegedly had a hit list involving both students and staff.

The 14-year-old accused of making a hit list and a plan to shoot up Mariemont High School appeared in court for the first time Wednesday morning as his attorneys ask for him to be released from juvenile detention.

The juveniles pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, among other charges, instead of fighting the more serious felony murder charges.

Leaders in the Hamilton County Juvenile Court are asking anyone with warrants to turn themselves in Tuesday, and get free support in return.

Bloom has been spearheading the effort to reimagine a place that, for 109 years, has been a residential school for delinquent children.

The issue, fueled by a growing youth violence problem in greater Cincinnati, leaves judges to juggle accountability, rehabilitation and community safety.
