Kittens were being born at a home in Winsted even as the Winchester Police Department removed some 200 cats from the dwelling that was infested with fleas, the stench of urine so strong that it was overbearing, even in a Hazmat suit and mask.
Karin Keyes of Long Island, N.Y., was charged with cruel confinement of animals after authorities executed Operation Open Cage and rescued 118 rabbits, 150 birds, 15 cats, seven tortoises, three snakes and several mice from a filthy home.
