The Karnataka High Court on Monday questioned how those defying the ban on manual scavenging are able to get away with little or no action taken against them for their actions.
The single judge was dealing with two petitions, one by BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal and the other by the CBI, both of whom have objected to the decision to withdraw consent for the investigation against Shivakumar.

Justice Mohammad Nawaz determined that based on the prosecution evidence, there was a prima facie case against the accused and that he was likely to tamper with evidence if released on bail.
