aims to protect the jersey shore from future storms. but the big story on action news is the gun point robberies of two studentses from temple university. both crimes happened early this morning one victim was walking near campus and the other was on school grounds. katherine scott is live at one of the scenes with more. reporter: that is right, two temple students were robbed at gun point within hours of each other and neither student was injured. the first armed robbery took place at 15th, about a block away from broad street. the executive director of public safety at temple says that robberies are down but last night s incidents show that there is work to do to make the number lower. two students were held up in two different armed robberies last night in north philadelphia. one was on campus and the other nearby, some students say they were not surprised. it s a dangerous neighborhood but you know the risks when you select to go to temple. i feel safe, there

reporter: repair work is already beginning, but lets set the scene, this is old city and this is chestnut and front street, and as we pan back over here, this is the elevated extension built in the 1980s and takes you to penn s landing and market street and columbus boulevard and you can see it s closed. this is why the elevated road is closed. one of the massive support beams is deteriorating. it caused imbedded steel to expanding damage the concrete, it had been flagged last spring by penndot for repair and work was to begin next month. but a civilal spotted the crack and called police and they decided to close the road and moved up the repair work, they made a temporary support system to allow the road to reopen for traffic possibly as early as this weekend. they hope to have the road open for vehicles by the end of the sunday night here, the permanent fix they are beginning to work on now and will continue to work on for the next several weeks hopefully that will be c
