Couple of hours. Well go ahead and get a look at the air quality. You can see as weve headed through today, as you look off toward the distance, you can see that smoke. It is cloudy. The sky has that orange haze in it, but its not necessarily in the very unhealthy air range right here in the bay area. So as you look at these live air quality monitoring sites, the only spot now thats tipped into the unhealthy category is napa. Otherwise its good in San Francisco, moderate for most of the bay area, and a few spots that are unhealthy for sensitive groups right now. So i want to talk more about the smoke and why were seeing it off towards the distance but were not necessarily smelling it as bad as it looks. And it all has to do with three different fires surrounding the bay area. We have one off to the north, the august complex, the one near fresno, the creek fire, and then the dolan fire off to the south. So with all of these fires, they are so large theyre creating whats called pyorcumul
We begin in San Francisco where just last night police dispersed crowds in the marina district. Someone flagged officers down concerned that people were not following covid19 safety rules. Now there are calls for expanded enforcement. Nbc bay areas Sergio Quintana begins our coverage tonight in the city. Partly because charter lawn San Francisco gives our board very little oversight, very little control about which Charter Schools we approve. That is evident by them and spoken not to be here. It is a comment on the families and educators to recognize the impact that your expansion will have in our district. We heard tonight, from middle school students, who are facing potential cuts at their school site because theyre losing enrollment. Your expansion to the middle school, especially if you intend to target families of color, and families who are lower income, will directly impact the enrollment of our most impacted public schools. I would also like to remind you that one of the ways that segregation plays out in the United States is by parent selfselection, and the choice was a strategy that was developed by a religious

As you know, we open the Transit Center to the public on july 1 st and resumed full bus operations by august 12th. Im happy to report that with close coordination and partnership with the transit operators has resulted in a good experience for transit riders. Peak hours are being managed well and transit riders are now accustomed to the Transit Center and navigating the bus plaza. We will continue to work with partners to improve the experience o
