A 28-year-old Romulus man is facing charges in connection with a car crash that killed Vivian Carmody and injured her husband, Dan Carmody, the CEO of Eastern Market. 

Police want a 29-year-old Romulus man who drove the vehicle that struck Dan Carmody, Eastern Market CEO and his wife Vivian charged with homicide.

The suspect, from Romulus, was intoxicated from drugs and alcohol, Detroit Police Chief James White said in a press briefing Tuesday.

Eastern Market Board of Directors (EMBD) confirmed Saturday its CEO Dan Carmody and his wife Vivian were hit by a car Friday evening while walking in Downtown Detroit.

Vivian Carmody and her husband, Dan Carmody, CEO of the Detroit nonprofit market, were struck by the vehicle while walking to dinner near Lafayette and St. Aubin streets.

“The Eastern Market family is deeply sorry for the Carmody family and will give our full support to Dan and his family through this incredibly sad and difficult time," said President Katy Trudeau.

Vivian Carmody died after the crash. Dan Carmody is in stable condition at Detrioit Receiving Hospital and expected to recover.
