Watermark Art Center will host the annual middle school show and a "Water is Life" exhibit, opening Friday, May 3, at Watermark, 505 Bemidji Ave. N.

This week, Watermark celebrates its fifth anniversary in this fine arts facility at 505 Bemidji Avenue North, a dream that started with an enthusiastic group of lovers of the arts in 1967. Fifty-five years later, the center is a focal point for the arts, serving not just the Bemidji area, but the nine counties and three tribal nations that surround it and the many visitors to the area from across the state and beyond.

Watermark Art Center will host an online auction for its "Umbrellas of Unity" exhibit on Oct. 3-12, at Watermark Art Center, 505 Bemidji Ave. N.

Silk and Batik artist Mary Therese invites interested artists to submit umbrella designs reflecting the theme of “Unity” as part of a juried exhibition at Watermark Art Center that will open on Aug. 19 in the Kaul Gallery at Watermark.

Painted umbrellas can be submitted through May 1 for an August art exhibit celebrating racial diversity.

An exhibit showing Feb. 5-March 26 in the Kaul Gallery explores different viewpoints on what "quilting" means.
