Top Isle of Wight steeplechaser Dan Eckersley won gold in his age group easily in the European Championships in Pescara, Italy.

The Jüri Jaanson Two Bridges race, which was held again in Pärnu this weekend following a two-year break due to the coronavirus, was won by Estonian marathon runner Tiidrek Nurme, with Laura Maasik finishing first in the women's event.

After a break of over two years, this weekend, on September 3-4, the Jüri Jaanson Two Bridges run, will take place once again in Pärnu, with at least one 1,500 people expected to take part.

Estonia's Tiidrek Nurme finished in a respectable 11th place (2 hours 12 minutes 46 seconds) in the men's marathon final at the European Athletics Championships in Munich on Monday. Estonian were sixth overall in the team rankings.

The European Athletics Championships start in Munich, Germany, on August 15, and ERR will be broadcasting live, tracking the endeavors of the twelve Estonian athletes who are competing.
