Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been issued seventh summon by the Enforcement Directorate in the Excise Policy case, directing him to appear on February 26. Kejriwal declined to comply for the sixth time recently, asserting that the ED should await the courts decision instead of repeatedly issuing summonses. A Delhi court, on February 17, granted Kejriwal an exemption from personal appearance for that day in the case

The national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) did not appear for the previous four ED summons — January 3, November 2, December 18, and December 21 last year — calling them “illegal”.

Delhi BJP secretary Harish Khurana said Arvind Kejriwal would have to face the ED one day or the other.

In his previous responses, Kejriwal had called the summons “motivated” and alleged they were “issued for vexatious considerations”. He also asked in what capacity he was being summoned — “ as a witness or a suspect” — in relation to the Delhi excise policy case.

As AAP raises alarm that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) probing the Delhi Excise Policy case may arrest Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday, the chief minister hit out at the federal agency, stating that the summons sent to him was false.
