Salt River First Nation's council can no longer have meetings to keep suspending its chief, a federal court judge has ruled, until the court holds a judicial review of the original suspension.

A recent ruling upheld Herons call for a judicial review into her suspension that a previous judge called procedurally unfair. She now wants a chance to lead the nation.

Salt River First Nation in Fort Smith, N.W.T., continues to deal with political turmoil in the wake of a Federal Court decision that found the suspension of the elected chief in 2022 was not fair or reasonable.
