SU Womens Lacrosse captures their 19th conference championship with the big win over CNU

47abc May 1, 2021 SALISBURY, MD.- Behind seven goals from Lydia McNulty and five more from Erin Scannell, Salisbury Women’s Lacrosse defeated Christopher Newport 17-8 to capture the 19th conference championship in program history. Coming into the conference championship at a perfect 14-0, the Gulls welcomed in Christopher Newport, the number three ranked team in the Coast to Coast conference. It looked like we might have a close game as Kendall Krause tied the game up at one for CNU just two minutes into the game. But, thats where the Seagulls would go on a run. Lydia McNulty, Julie Talbert and Erin Scannell (3) took SU on a 5-0 run for the 6-1 lead midway through the first half. After a Captains timeout, CNU was able to get two more on the board to cut the lead to four with 3:50 left in the half. From there, Lydia McNulty took over. The Salisbury Senior netted four goals in the final three minutes to give Salisbury the 11-3 lead at the break.

Cape battles the elements and Sussex Academy, improves to 10-1 on the season April 30, 2021 LEWES, Del.- With the wind whipping and the rain falling, the Cape Henlopen Vikings defeated Sussex Academy 17-10 to move to 10-1 on the year, 10-0 against in state opponents. The loss drops the Seahawks to 9-1, their first loss of the season. Winds were gusting up to 21 miles an hour and the rain was beginning to fall as game time came around. 47abc April 27, 2021 GEORGETOWN, Del.- Behind two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Sussex Tech Ravens defeated the Milford Bucs 4-3 to move to 11-1 on the year. The loss drops the Buccaneers to 9-3. Coming off their first loss of the season on Saturday to St. Georges, Sussex Tech welcomed in Milford (9-2). The Bucs came into the afternoon quietly having a great season, sitting sixth in the state standings. Milford came out hot. Two quick hits in the top of the first inning including an RBI double by Aydin Zimmerman to bring Matt Winkleblech home from second. In the bottom of the inning, pitcher Alex Mergner struck out two of three batters to keep the score 1-0 to end the first.

47abc April 23, 2021 FELTON, Del.- Behind four runs in the third inning, the Sussex Tech Ravens coasted past Lake Forest 7-0 to move to 9-2 on the year. The loss drops the Spartans to 6-2. It was a defensive battle through the first two innings, neither team able to get past second base. Tech exploded in the third with four runs brought in by Karli Penrod (2) Kylie Kruger and Laniya Lewis to take a 4-0 lead. The score remained the same through the next four innings, until the Raven offense rattled off three more runs brought in by Kruger, Lewis and Megan Sterling as the Sussex Tech Ravens rolled past Lake 7-0.

Coleman s 4th quarter goal keeps Polytechs unbeaten streak alive

47abc April 22, 2021 MILFORD, Del.- With 3:30 left in regulation, Polytech’s McKinley Boyce sent a corner into the box and found the head of Julian Coleman as she got it past the keeper for the game winner. The 1-0 win over Milford  victory keeps the Panthers win streak alive which stands at 6-0, the loss drops the Buccaneers to 4-4. The Panthers came into todays matchup on a five game win streak, the longest in the Henlopen. The Bucs have had a few quality wins this season but were coming off a tough 8-1 loss to Caesar Rodney. The wind was playing a major factor throughout the entire game, neither team able to get any good shots off. Milford dominated the time of possession in the first half, kicking with the wind allowing them keep the ball on their side of the field but weren’t able to get the ball in the net.
