The Kerala Film Producer’s Association has released a statement that Manjummel Boys will release on Feb 22 as scheduled, and films currently running in theatres won t be affected by the ban.
In a significant turn of events, cinema theatres across Kerala are set to remain shuttered for the next two days. The decision was made during a crucial meeting held in Kochi under the chairmanship of Fiok, marking a collective stand against the violation of an agreement that granted early rights for the film 2018 to an Over-The-Top (OTT) platform.
FEUOK officials highlighted the escalating crisis surrounding Over-the-Top (OTT) releases, particularly after stars ventured into production roles. The association strongly believes that the theatre industry has suffered greatly due to the avarice of these stars-turned-producers.
Read on to why such a decision has been taken by the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK). The movie theatres in the South Indian state will remain closed on June 7 and June 8.
