Introduced the hate crimes bill as a young elected official because of the work i did. when i listened to yourics perts, and it was a great show today, i think this, yes, because it was principal cal about these crimes. yes the president is a racist and his rhetoric is horrible. we have to look at what we can do within law enforcement. the fbi director testified last week and said we dote note why there is a rise in hate crimes. wed better figure that out. i have my own theory. number two, up th...

Government has to prove by clear and convincing evidence that the person is disturbed, a danger to themselves or others. and if that test is met, they can seize the guns and get person the help they need. what i want to do is encourage these laws with robust due process and i think thats the presidents goal also. >> that is the presidents goal. thats all the federal government can do is encourage these laws and pay the states to do it. the feds cant order the states to do these things. there are...

Circles right now that theyre putting this speech together. may be coming in a matter of weeks. and i think the goal here is for the president to try to calm people down, to say, this is -- we can be transparent about this. this is just another tool we use to fight terrorism. its a military tool, a new technology people dont understand. i think theres a feeling because people dont understand it that well, theyre leaping to wild conclusions. the rand paul filibuster was a scenario of killing amer...

I of my own volition say im not going to do it. let the guy do his thing. >> i dont envision thats the way the system would work. the people who are placed on these kill lists, are on there for at least days, if not weeks or months, before the drone operators decide that this is the moment where we have the right intelligence to act on taking them out. so why not present that evidence to an independent review body at the moment you believe you have enough evidence to say these people represent s...
