Districts still waiting for state DOH guidance for fall school reopening | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS School districts across the state are still waiting for state health guidelines that will shape key decisions in reopening schools in the fall, and some leaders are saying they can’t wait much longer. Districts are looking for direction from the state on a handful of issues crucial to their ability to return all students to daily in-person instruction in the fall: masking requirements, social-distancing rules, whether a remote option will be necessary and the extent that districts can ask about vaccine status.   In recent comments, some school leaders have suggested they can only wait so much longer and may have to move forward with making decisions about what the fall will look like in their districts.

After rejecting the motion to solicit private proposals, the board unanimously agreed to appoint BOCES to lead the search process. During a presentation prior to the votes, Capital Region BOCES District Superintendent Anita Murphy, who in her role also manages superintendent searches for districts in the region, outlined the board’s primary options for conducting a search. Superintendent searches generally fall into one of two categories: a closed or confidential search, where only school board members interview candidates; and a traditional or open search, where groups of community members, teachers and others interview candidates and offer input to the board.

Shares0 NISKAYUNA – As the Niskayuna Central School District school board begins the task of hiring a new superintendent, it will need to decide whether it will face the effort on its own or hire a search consultant to help them, according to a state School Boards Association official.  Current Superintendent Cosimo Tangorra Jr. announced Tuesday evening to the board he would be accepting the same position with the New Hartford Central School District in Oneida County.
