Idaho mens basketball head coach Alex Pribble announced the commitment of Whitworth transfer and NWC Player of the Year, Jojo Anderson on Tuesday.

“We have a little chip on our shoulder,” said first-year Idaho men's basketball coach Alex Pribble, who was head coach at Division II Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Wash., for four seasons (2015-19). “We understand where this program has been, we understand where this team is projected … but we have a strong sense of internal belief.”

“I told him (my dad, Eric), no doubt, I want to be the best athlete ever to have come through the school,” Lake City High senior Zach Johnson recalled last week. “Not just the best football player, not just the best basketball player, the best track athlete,” he said. “When they say who was the best athlete ever? I want that to be me.”

The football standout who won state titles in two “other” sports in addition to helping his football team win its first outright league title in 27 seasons — that’s a heckuva school year in sports.

Since changing the format in 2016 from North vs. South to a Metro (Boise area) vs. Region (rest of the state), the Region boys have won three of seven games. The Region girls lead the current series 5-2.
