The Ministry of Environment plans to turn the Phnom Thmar Kambor area in Samlot district, Battambang province into a protected area after finding many rare animal species living there.

Many rare species of wild animals such as clouded leopards and bears continue to be found in the Cardamom Mountain range. This is the result of Cambodia’s improved conservation of natural resources, according to a report released by the Ministry of Environment on February 18.

The ministry of Environment is considering disciplinary measures to impose on companies that have leaked acid into the Sangke River in Battambang province, causing a mass fish die-off in the area of the Thvak Natural Resort in Thvak village in Ratanak Mondol district’s Andoeuk Heb commune.
