Between October 28, 2019 and April 25, 2024, fewer than 6,356 inmates escaped from Nigerian Correctional Service Centres in a series of successful jailbreaks. This amounts to 13 in number, a report by WikkiTimes said. Recently, Nigeria has experienced several jailbreaks, posing a threat to public safety. These incidents have raised serious concerns about the effectiveness of security measures within the country’s prison system and also highlighted the need for reforms.

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lokoja, on Tuesday remanded three robbery suspects for allegedly attacking and dispossessing students of their belongings in Kogi. The suspects were arrested and arraigned for terrorising student communities of Adakolo, Felele, Bassa Village and Crusher suburb areas of Lokoja, the confluence city.
