City staff members may have served up a delicious compromise to address a problem that has vexxed Jefferson City since efforts to sign a contract for yard waste disposal disintegrated a few months ago.

The yard waste drop-off service will be available free of charge for Jefferson City residents after Oct. 31, though only on weekends.

City staff members found more than $3 million for next years budget during the last two weeks.

Candidates for Jefferson City Council reported thousands of dollars in campaign donations in the latest round of campaign finance reports.

The citys compost site will likely close if Jefferson Citys budget next year stands as it is, the contractor who provides the service said.

Improvements to the building that houses the Cole County Assessor and the Public Defenders Offices were approved Tuesday by the Cole County Commission.
