India News: A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders for assault on government servants during the Congress' Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Guwahati. The FIR was filed by Guwahati City Police based on charges of disobedience to legal order, violation of permission conditions, and obstruction to government servants. The FIR has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and is being investigated.

On Wednesday, Assam Director General of Police G P Singh said the case has been transferred to the state CID and a Special Investigation Team would be constituted “for a thorough and in-depth investigation”.
