Massive student protests at Columbia University, which began last week and were met with arrests and suspensions, have triggered a wave of similar protests across the US and Europe.

The encampment is one of several set up by students at colleges nationwide to show solidarity with the pro-Palestinian protesters who were arrested at Columbia University in New York earlier this week.

Boston Police arrested more than 100 people as they cleared out pro-Palestinian protesters and their encampment from Emerson College early Thursday morning.

One student who was at the demonstration and left the area said he watched the incident unfold from his dorm window and said he saw officers dragging away some people who resisted arrest.

Hundreds of protesters were arrested in Boston, Austin and Los Angeles on Wednesday into Thursday. Students continue setting up new encampments, including at Cornell and George Washington University.
