Apr 22, 2021 1. Sports media prediction: The next NFL player who will make a successful transition from the field to television will be Julian Edelman. “Successful” is an understatement—I expect Edelman to become a breakout sports media star. The newly retired Patriot announced Wednesday hes joining the cast of Inside the NFL for the 2021 season. Edelman’s decision to start his media career on a smaller show is a smart move. I don’t know if the former receiver wants to eventually ca...

By: Brentley Weissman April 21st, 2021 2021-04-21T09:00:00-05:00 The Draft Network Photo: Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports The Kansas City Chiefs have a lot riding on this year’s draft class. Head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach need to hit on not just their early-round picks, but also their late-round selections as they strive to keep Patrick Mahomes surrounded by a talented roster. As we have seen in the past, once a team ponies up big mon...

+ Constant looking to help in pass pro + High IQ - calls protections and IDs blitzes and stunts great + Strong combo to redirect --> climb --> frame in space How he fits in Kansas City: Everything about Dickerson fits in Kansas City. He’s a strong player at the point of attack with enough movement skills to work in space and at the second level. He’d be a welcome addition as a pass protector for Patrick Mahomes. His personality should fit in well — he was beloved at Alabama. There’s onl...

That was perhaps the sloppiest game Ohio State has played in a long, long time. If Ohio State had managed to beat Rutgers in their second game, I might have considered the Buckeyes to be pretty close to a shoo-in for the national tournament. But at this point, it would be hard to say that the Buckeyes are going to be in the field of 16 at all. The big 3 for Maryland feasted on the Buckeyes. Jared Bernhardt had 6 goals on 10 shots, Dylan Maltz scored 4 on 5 shots, and Logan Wisnauskas had a ho-hu...

A troublesome water-heater threw me off my game this weekend. But no worries. My long national nightmare will end today.  Knocks on wood. At least I’ve learned that cold showers are great for curing hangovers. Maybe that’s what the Cubs bats need? (Hey, it’s a thought.) •   On this date in 2018, Ryan Pace ranked absolutely dead last in NFL.com’s GM rankings. The Bears have made the postseason twice in the three seasons that have since passed. Where would you rank Pace now? •   T...

Chiefs name current options at tackle, suggest they aren’t done adding yet Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports Since the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV, the most popular topic of conversation surrounding the club has been what it intends to do at the tackle positions — and really, the offensive line as a whole. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was pressured more in Super Bowl LV than any quarterback in Super Bowl history: 29 times, or 52% of his drop...

Grading Positional Groups Pre-Draft QB: A++++ RB: B+ Clyde showed a lot of good things last year, and I expect him to take a huge leap this year in the passing game. The signings on the interior o-line should do him wonders. Darrell is a capable backup, and Darwin even showed some flashes in week 17 (even if he hasnt really put it all together yet). TE/FB: A We may have the best tight end in the history of the league, so theres that. Also, im happy to see the Belldozer back, hes everything you ...

NFL personnel people will never call need their driving force in the draft. They like their draft boards, the work going into them, and also that whole best-available athlete routine. However, their failures in the draft can shoot down this approach.  Most often, a team has to take the best available athlete based on their need position. With less than two weeks remaining until the NFL Draft, the Bears could be headed any number of different direction at No. 20 depending on how the picks abo...
