Equinor, operator of production licence PL 943, has concluded the drilling of wildcat well 6607/12-5. The well, which was drilled about 18 kms west of the Norne field in the Norwegian Sea, is being permanently plugged and abandoned as dry, with traces of gas.
Aker BP, operator of production licence PL 261, has concluded the drilling of wildcat well 6507/2-6. The well, which was drilled about 7 kms west of the Skarv field in the Norwegian Sea, encountered gas in several geological formations. The preliminary estimate of recoverable gas volume is between 25 and 80 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe).
As of 23 June, Westwood Global Energy reports that there are four exploration wells active, two in the Northern North Sea and two in the Norwegian Sea.
