Take a journey through the cosmos in a mobile planetarium with space-related artifacts up close, including meteorites, during Space Night, 2-4:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the U of A Museum on Hatch Avenue.

Did you know that there are meteorites in the U of A Museums collections, including one that fell right here in Fayetteville? On Friday, Dec. 1, from 2-4:45 p.m., you can see them for yourself at Space Night!

From meteorites and mammoths to early flutes and first computers, the U of A Museum houses a wide array of materials. Staff recently selected 30 objects that encapsulate this expansive scope.

The College of Education and Health Professions Clinic for Literacy and the U of A Museum partnered for the first time this summer to host a camp for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Two decades ago, the University of Arkansas Museum in Fayetteville was shuttered, with collections relocated to a secure storage facility northwest of main campus where dedicated staff have continued to conserve and build collections — accessible to scholars, students and the public only appointment. But now a new virtual collections portal has opened, initiated by Laurel Lamb, curator of education and engagement.
