Port Wentworth, Georgia, Police Chief Matt Libby announced his retirement Monday, less than a week after The Daily Signal reported that Police Officer Jacob Kersey had been placed on administrative leave after sharing his views on traditional marriage on Facebook.  

Jacob Kersey was a rookie of the Port Wentworth Police Department until his supervisors decided his views on marriage were too "offensive."

A police officer in Georgia resigned last week after he said superiors attempted to suppress him from sharing his religious beliefs on social media.

“If someone somewhere considers an opinion I have ... to be offensive, then that would be a fireable offense,” Jacob Kersey says.
