Providence plans to shutter the labs March 18. Health care workers said they were concerned this could add delays for patient care and further the scarcity of service locally.

Saint Joseph nurses say Providence is violating California’s safe staffing law, which mandates safe RN-to-patient staffing ratios. Ongoing payroll errors have resulted in missing pay for hundreds of nurses.
