Chandigarh Electric Vehicle, EV, Policy News: In a move towards sustainable urban mobility, the Chandigarh Administration conducted a review of its Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy in consultation with various stakeholders. Chandigarhs EV Policy faced two comprehensive reviews in July 2023 and October 2023 due to evolving circumstances, primarily the evolving charging infrastructure landscape.

EV Policy: It has been further pleaded that as per the reports with the Chandigarh administration itself, more than 50% vehicles which come to Chandigarh are from outside and mostly from the neighbouring states and further there is no such ban or capping in any of the adjoining areas of Mohali and Panchkula. This kind of policy will not in any manner serve the objective which the administration wants to achieve regarding promoting the electric vehicles.

“In Delhi, we have around 2 lakh registered vehicles with the aggregators. Out of that, we sell around 10 lakh kg per day. As we understand from the policy that has been approved, by 2030, 100% aggregators would be converted to electric. We expect around 10 lakh volumes by 2030 to be impacted.”

Mercedes Benz: The luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz exports 90% of its total South African output, primarily to Europe, which plans to ban sales of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035. At the same time, South Africas policy paper on EVs is two years behind schedule. The government has said it will be published this year.

Greaves Electric Mobility, formerly known as Ampere Electric Vehicles, has offered to refund the subsidy it received under the FAME India scheme. The company is one of seven electric two-wheeler makers accused of selling vehicles without meeting localisation requirements. Greaves plans to repay around โน124.91 crore, making it the second company to offer a refund.
