According to Reuters report earlier, the Indian government is planning a policy that could allow the import of EVs at a tax of as low as 15 percent. Sitharaman, however, said no such proposal has been tabled before her.

The new version of Delhis electric vehicle (EV) policy is stuck following the dismissal of advisors, consultants and fellows in the transport department, including those in the Delhi Electric Vehicle Cell, while stakeholders have favoured incentives to encourage the use of EVs. The previous policy ran until August 8 and has been extended until a replacement is finalised.

School: As per the original caps under the EV Policy, in the second year of its implementation, of all the buses registered, 50% have to be e-buses. In the third year, this cap will be 80% e-buses, fourth year of policy 90% and in fifth year 100% e-buses will be registered.
