The students of Hayden Canyon Charter School are thinking twice about litter they find on the side of the road. Where some may see old newspapers, pieces of trampoline, cardboard boxes or plastic bags, Hayden Canyon's students see endless possibilities for upcycled styles and innovative designs. "I learned that trash can be recycled into something new," fifth grader Levi Hawkins said Monday. The school hosted its inaugural Trashin' Fashion Show in honor of Earth Day, a global celebration held annually in support of the environment.

Helmerich School of Drama to present Roe

Submitted Content Apr 8, 2021 The University of Oklahoma Helmerich School of Drama and University Theatre will present “Roe,” by award-winning playwright Lisa Loomer, from April 23 through May 2 on the OU Norman campus. “Roe” is a theatrical exploration of the complicated underpinnings of Roe v. Wade. Nancy Bell will be the guest director. OU alumna Paige Hathaway will be scenic designer. “Roe” is scheduled to open at 8 p.m. April 23, with additional performances set for 8 p.m. April 24, 29, 30 and May 1 and at 3 p.m. April 25 and May 2. All performances will be in the A. Max Weitzenhoffer Theatre, 563 Elm Ave. on the OU Norman campus. The production contains adult content.

2020 – The Year in Review Part 1

January  Three teams from Spruce Mountain Middle School were recognized for their accomplishments at the Maine FIRST LEGO League Championship held in December at the Augusta Civic Center. Members of ‘Just the Incredible 6’ won the Global Innovation Award and finished 10th in the robotic performance portion of the competition. The team Silent Bot Deadly took 11th out of the 28 teams in the robotic performance while Space Savers, a team of sixth graders were recognized with the Core Values Gracious Professionalism Award. More than three months after the explosion at the LEAP Inc. central office building in Farmington, Larry Lord’s condition was upgraded to fair. Lord received burns over more than half of his body in the explosion at the LEAP building where he was maintenance supervisor. He is credited with saving the lives of several LEAP co-workers after he got them out of the building moments before the explosion at Farmington Falls Road.
