The Latino vote in N.C. is more complex than the single issue of immigration. Increasingly, some Latino communities are voting Republican.

After increasing in the past two midterm elections, last year’s Latino voter turnout decreased and just 36 percent of Latinos registered to vote and only 25 percent of those cast a ballot.

Boxes are piled up on the porches of many Jamison Mobile Home Park residences. This neighborhood in Greensboro used to be a vibrant community, but now there are only a handful of children playing soccer, very few cars are parked, and the places where many homes stood now are vacant lots. 

In December of last year, Jamison Mobile Home Park residents received a letter from property owner Lynn Anderson stating that they now had until March 2022 to vacate the properties. According to Siembra NC, an organization that advocates for the wellbeing of Latino communities, Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan announced weeks later that residents now have until mid-June to work out a plan.
