Keith Vandervort ELY – A very young Ely High School varsity hockey team opened the 2021 season here last Saturday with a 5-1 loss to the Burnett County (Siren, Wis.) Blizzard. The Timberwolves’ lone senior, Jimmy Zupancich, scored Ely’s only goal of the game at 6:16 in the third period, with an assist from Jack Mathias and Jakson Hegman.
