Including Amazon Alexa support.
Last year, Audi updated its 2021 model lineup with the new next-generation MIB 3 (Modular Infotainment Toolkit) infotainment system, which features vastly improved performance, SiriusXM with 360L, and a higher resolution interface.
For 2022, Audi has upgraded the MIB3 infotainment system with a slew of new features including Amazon Alexa voice support and more personalization options. Audi of America introduced something this week called Function on Demand in the US for select 2021 Audi Q5, Q5 Sportback, A4, and A5 Premium and Premium Plus vehicles. Feature on the Demand is also available for 2021 e-Tron and e-Tron Sportback Premium. Audi says Function on Demand opens up the full Audi navigation experience complete with real-life satellite view, natural speech recognition controls that learn, handwriting recognition on the touchscreen, and other services included in CARE, PRIME, and PLUS packages for the vehicle models.

Audi of America is trying to do the features as a subscription thing and its latest offer isn’t cheap. The automaker wants to know if you’ll pay $84.99 a month for satellite navigation and 4G LTE wifi.
Admittedly, the service will include complete real-life satellite view, natural speech recognition controls, and handwriting recognition (but only on trims with the 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen). The 4G LTE wifi, meanwhile, turns your Audi into a wifi hotspot able to support up to eight devices.
If $84.99 a month is a bit rich for your blood, Audi will cut you a deal and give you a year’s subscription for $849.99. The automaker suggests that the monthly service is ideal for people who are, say, planning a road trip and want internet and navigation for the kids, but don’t need it all the time. They certainly would never hope that you do that and forget to unsubscribe.
