Reporter firefighters have made Good Progress on the fire in the last half hour. Most of the flames have been put out, but firefighters are on the ladders trying to douse the flames inside this building. The call came in before 8 30 tonight. We are told arriving crews found fire in the attic. That of course made it dangerous to put personnel inside. Although Alameda County fire started off with water in the interior. When the roof started to collapse they retreated and attacked the fire defensively from the outside. The challenge going into a furniture shop it is a very large building. It is complex in nature. In the building they had a lot of obstacles as they went into the building. There is a lot of combustibles. A heavy fire load. The fire rapidly expanded. They had to pull back. They are in a defensive mode. We are trying to extinguish the fire from the outside verses in the building. Reporter the good news there have been no injuriesfire. Firefighters initially started an interior fire attack. They were pushed back from the fire that they found in the building. Reporter firefighters tell me there is a home right behind thbuildi here. The residents in that home have been evacuated and also there are two apartments above the business nextdoor. Im happy to report the wind in and around this fire only between 5 and 7 miles per hour. That is much calmer than normal. Foul play involved. Reporter dive teams searched overnight. Ultimately the body was found in about 6 feet of water not far from where he fell in. The family still has questions about how it happened. We really dont know. There are things that dont add up in this situation. This is the second rounding at the lake in a matter of days. Reporter lifejackets are handed out to each boat renter here, he was not wearing one. It is not uncommon at all. We have lifeguards that staff the beach and officers patrolling the lake.
