A Chicago company will be taking over a family-owned staple in Fairfield, Jelly Belly.

One of Fairfield’s largest employers and family owned companies, Jelly Belly, has been sold to Chicago based firm Ferrara Candy Company.

The sale of the Fairfield-headquartered company will not be finalized until the end of this year, according to a company news release.

Chicago-based Ferrara Candy Company manufactures other popular sugar confections including Brach’s, Trolli and SweeTARTS candies.
