Little Knavesmire, York, with a police patrol inset A police crackdown on anti-social behaviour in part of York is having an effect. Increased police patrols and the imposition of dispersal orders in and around Little Knavesmire were put in place following violent disorder last weekend which left a 16-year-old youth needing hospital treatment. Dozens of youths were reported as congregating in the area and local residents complained that it was the latest in a series of incident. As well as patrols into the early hours, extra officers were drafted into the area on Friday and yesterday evenings. Officers dealt with one incident on Saturday after older youths were reported as causing a nuisance on Scarcroft Green.
Police have arrested a third teenager in connection with violent disorder on Little Knavesmire last Friday evening A THIRD teenager has been arrested in connection with a violent incident in York which left a 16-year-old boy needing hospital treatment. The disorder happened near Little Knavesmire on Albemarle Road at about 8.20pm last Friday, when dozens of young people were in the area. An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested at the time and now North Yorkshire Police has confirmed that a 14-year-old boy has also subsequently been arrested. It added that all three have been released on bail as inquiries continue.
