Were expecting the river to rise up about a half foot above flood stage sometime today and its all because of this. These thick chunks of ice that jammed up the Delaware River prompting road closures and Flood Warnings. I want you to look at this. This is farther down the road in lower mayfield township. What youre looking at is river road and its hard to tell where the road starts and river ends. Police have blocked off river road from richardson and east trenton and also blocked off some of those residential side streets that lead down that way. But back to the Flood Warning, theres one in effect for southwestern Mercer County and southeastern bucks. Some locations like trenton, yardley and morrisville, could experience flooding which we are beginning to see. We already saw some of that over on
Rest of us is cause for concern for people who live along this stretch of the Delaware River but many neighbors here tell us as long as the nearby canal doesnt flood, they feel relatively safe. You can get a pinch point up in yardley where the yardley inn is. Floods there and down here and sort of creates an island so the last time it happened i think it was 06 im not sure but we were mandatory evacuated. Reporter so far the canal has not flooded and flooding from the river has been relatively minor. The problem that has developed here is quite simply an ice jam and that forces the current to accumulate in isolated areas. So far the worst of it is here at the intersection of river road and ferry road in lower makefield and so local officials are urging commuters to avoid the area. At this time the river continues to be ice dammed along the calhoun street bridge zero the river is unpredictable. The water could still rise a little bit or even some ice flows could come up on the red way.

This is one of the snowest moving systems that weve ever seen and the main impact of it for much of the area is going to be overnight tonight until noon on wednesday and affecting all areas eventually. Its already started in Lehigh Valley, burks county has had some snow this morning may have some this afternoon, but its not going to start much of chefrt county, montgomery counties, bucks county until after the afternoon rush today and from the philadelphia area down through south jersey until around 11 00 tonight and the first flakes will probably be melting in this area. Some people have been rain frg t the greatest threat is in the pennsylvania neighborhoods where its been colder overnight. Thats where youre more likely to find accumulation and some slippery spots. Slippery roads for the morning commute, but improving conditions later today. Allentown has seen steadier snowfall overnight. You can see the live view from allentown shows its still coming down in allentown, the lee high valley and into berks county. Lets start with meteorologist kate bilo tracking where and when the heaviest snow will fall, kate. We have been saying this storm has been for our far north and western suburbs where Winter Weather advisories and storm warnings are in effect. I will show you those in a moment but snow is still, off to the north and west but start to go permeate just slightly a little further south and to the east. You can see right now a mixture of upper bucks, montgomery counties and chester county. That is because temperatures got in the 40s and still in many spots above freezing. This will start as a lit will rain, perhaps mixing with snow and because temperatures are still relatively warm this will likely melt, on contact when it hits road at first.
