Second Harvest food bank along with Orange County public schools help deliver meals to thousands of families this holiday season

From power washers to toothbrushes, students from The Frankfort Christian Academy used whatever was needed to help clean flood-ravaged Riverside Christian School in Breathitt County.

The Seminole County school district will hike the cost of cafeteria meals in August, the first such increase in seven years.

Each meal served during the summer will include fresh fruits and vegetables, an entrée, and milk.

Many public schools across the country will now have to cut back on summer meals for students. The federal waiver that allowed them to serve free meals is expiring at the end of June.

Pandemic-inspired school-lunch waivers from the USDA are about to run out, but with families still hurting and schools facing staff shortages, contuining the waivers would provide a lifeline for hungry children.
