Prosecutors say two women in eastern New Mexico have been sentenced to prison in a case in which they were accused of beating children in their care and chaining them to their beds.

Melancon admitted to abusing two children in her shared home with Jayme Kushman back between 2008 and 2016.

Prosecutors say two women in eastern New Mexico have been sentenced to prison in a case in which they were accused of beating children in their care and chaining them

"I've seen movies and true depictions of prisoners of war and this child was treated in a very similar way. He was starved, he was chained, he was beaten, humiliated, and anyone capable to do heinous acts to this child should be considered a danger to the community,” said Judge Tatum. 

One of the women accused of beating, starving, and chaining up six children in Texico, New Mexico, Jamie Sena, took a plea deal and was sentenced last week.
