An unusually well-preserved gauntlet of armor was discovered recently during an excavation near Kyburg Castle in northeastern Switzerland.

Only five 14th-century gauntlets have been discovered in Switzerland, none as well preserved as this Kyburg gauntlet, according to the Zurich cantonal infrastructure department.

The discovery is a first of its kind found in a medieval cellar, archaeologists said.
