Oxford schools have implemented several new security measures since the shooting that claimed the lives of four students in 2021, and now, an outside consulting firm is evaluating the safety policies and presenting their findings.

A third-party firm that evaluated safety policies at Oxford High school found several areas of needed improvement, while determining current protocols and policies are "satisfactory."

Last week, it was ruled that Oxford Schools and its employees would be protected from lawsuits due to government immunity and many parents are frustrated.

Oakland County Circuit Judge Mary Ellen Brennan dismissed all Oxford governmental employees and entities from civil lawsuits relating to the shooting.

"After processing the emotions, all I could think about was the facts - what are going to happen to them," she said. "The school has told us we don’t need an investigation. That the facts are going to come out in the trial, this is the trial.”
