The Pueblo Rescue Mission has named the new location the “Lighthouse Campus.”

The Pueblo Rescue Mission asked city officials for assistance to build a bigger warming shelter in August. The previous shelter could house a total of 100 people.

United Way reduced the grant amount it requested from the city council after council members denied a larger grant request in February.

Pueblo City Councilor Lori Winner is reviving an effort to put a question to voters in November that would get rid of the mayors office.

Opponents of the city's form of government say their effort to put the question of who should run Pueblo back to voters was stymied by bad information they got from city officials.

Of 65 responses to a survey question asking officers what would keep them from departing Pueblo PD, more than two-thirds said higher pay would do it.

Two councilors voted "no" on first reading of the ordinance, which will see a final vote on May 8.

Pueblo City Council passed the ordinance to hold a special election on its first reading Monday night.

Aliff, who was elected to city council in 2017 but lost a reelection bid in 2021, joins several other candidates running for an at-large council seat
