The next cyclonic storm forming in the Indian Seas will be named 'Mocha'. Southeast BoB and the Andaman Sea need to be kept under observation for the next 3 days. More authentic information on the track and intensity of the likely storm may have to wait for 72 hours.
Moderate showers are likely today over South Coastal and interior parts of Tamil Nadu today. Coastline from Karaikal to Kanyakumari and inland stations, right up to Kerala border will receive moderate intermittent spell in the next 24 hours.
Weather activities will be seen over Tamil Nadu for the next three days. Rains will be seen over southern parts of Tamil Nadu more as compare to the other parts of the state. The activity may spill over to adjoining parts of Kerala as well. In fact, we do not expect anything significant and only light to moderate rains will be seen over some parts.
Under the influence of a persistent cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area has formed over equatorial region of Southeast Bay of Bengal (BoB) . It is likely to become more marked in the next 24hr. Low pressure will move slowly west-northwest and reach close to Sri Lanka and southern parts of Southwest BoB in the subsequent 3 days.
There is persistent vertical wind shear which along with dry air intrusion is eroding the circulation pattern. However, low level features still remain intact resulting circular shape cloud cluster around the centre of storm.
