The monsoon progress is a bit slow. Normal date of arrival for this region is 22nd of May. Last year, it was before time by a good margin. Going by the normal, the southwest monsoon reaches Sri Lanka and deep in to Myanmar on 26th of May.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in its special cyclone bulletin on Tuesday said a low-pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal (BoB) and adjoining South Andamans sea has intensified into a well-marked low at midnight on 8th May over the same area.

A broad cyclonic circulation is likely to form over Southeast BoB and South Andaman Sea on 05th May. This feature will get organised and is expected to percolate to the ocean surface as a low-pressure area around 06-07 May.
