May 18—WILLMAR — Lumber One Development Company will soon be the owner of half of Block 25 in downtown Willmar. The Willmar City Council approved selling four city-owned lots on the west side of the block for $4 total to the company, which plans to construct an apartment complex on the site. The Willmar City Council moved the Block 25 land sale process forward, setting a public hearing for May 17. The Planning and Development department is proposing selling the western half of the block, owned by the city, to Lumber One Development Company for $1 per parcel. Block 25 located between Second and Third Street Southwest and bordered by U.S. Highway 12 and Benson Avenue in downtown Willmar will potentially be purchased by Lumber One Development Company to construct a 57-unit, market-rate apartment complex. The city of Willmar owns the western four parcels, that are currently being used as a public parking lot.
Willmar City Council will meet at least twice this week
The Willmar City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building.
