Torey Cagno singled in the bottom of the eight inning to break a 5-5 tie as (4) Northwest Guilford completed a comeback to defeat (5) East Forsyth in the third round of the NCHSAA 4A softball playoffs. The Eagles led 1-0 in the sixth before the Vikings responded with five runs to take the lead. East Forsyth would answer back with four of its own to force extra innings on Tuesday May 16, 2023.

Kierston Deal was unflappable on the mound, and East Forsyth is now one win away from a state title because of it.

With its back up against the wall, D.H. Conley kept its season alive and forced a decisive Game 3 in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A softball championship series with a 2-1 win over East Forsyth at Duke's softball stadium.
