GREENWOOD -- Just half of last years dynamic duo is back for the Greenwood Lady Bulldogs this year.

GREENWOOD -- Three times a 5A state champion. Two times a state tournament MVP. Scored the fourth most points in program history. Greenwood senior Mady Cartwright left no doubt she was one of the best players to ever wear a Lady Bulldogs uniform.

BASEBALL: While a number of area baseball teams elected to postpone their scheduled games Tuesday afternoon because of incoming storms, Gravette decided to go ahead and play its 4A-1 Conference showdown against rival Gentry.

The Northside Lady Bears faced many unknowns going into the season like returning to the 6A-West and replacing key players off teams that played in two-straight state championship games and winning one of them.

HOT SPRINGS -- Veteran coach Clay Reeves sat at the post-game championship game press conference Thursday flanked on his left and his right by his 1-2 punch of senior Mady Cartwright and junior Anna Trusty.

PINE BLUFF -- Kinley Mears stepped to the free-throw line for the first of two shots coming her way. She knew that as long as she made both, the game was over. Even one miss would require a miracle to keep the game going.

NyAsia Jackson was due for a game like the one she had Friday afternoon.
