Purdue Northwest Chancellor Thomas Keon, who was widely denounced after a racist remark at commencement in December, announced in an email obtained by the Post-Tribune Friday that he will be “transitioning to faculty” June 30, 2024, after 12 years as the school’s leader. He’s doing so, he said, because the Purdue University system limits how long a chancellor can serve.

Earlier this month, Purdue trustees approved $56.6 million in renovations to multiple buildings across the West Lafayette campus.

Additionally, Purdue University said most students on the West Lafayette campus will not see an increase in room and board rates for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The 2021-22 end-of-the-school-year report, the naming of an academic success center and renovation were discussed at a Purdue Trustees meeting.
